It’s been 3-Years since the price of Flex Duct increased. During those 3 -years JPL has absorbed higher general & administrative expenses across the board. Raw material costs were stagnant for 18 – 24 months but raw material costs have risen significantly in the last 6 months. The final straw that required JPL to pass through a price increase was an 8% increase in the cost of Flex Duct insulation. Insulation as you may know is 50% of cost of goods. The insulation increase is effective on shipments soon after the 1st of the year. All 4 major insulation manufactures have raised their respective prices. JPL’s 7% insulated & 5% non-insulated products price increase is effective on all orders placed after January 8th, 2018.
We anticipate our lead-time (average time to ship) will begin to stretch out as early as December 10th and by the end of December we could be acknowledging new orders at 3+ weeks. We strongly suggest you get ahead of the curve and begin building up your inventory soon after December 1st (be safe not sorry).
FYI – Sometimes contractors (users) are the last to know about price increases. Get the message out quickly so your customers can also stock up and be aware that a 7% increase should be added to their general contractor / builder flex duct quotes after the 1st of the year.
